Hearing impaired individuals tend to have an elevated likelihood of drug use issues due to their impairment, and rehabilitation services must be available which serves their circumstances. People who are hearing impaired can seem to be alone, lack motivation, and be without goals for their impairment. Some hearing impaired individuals then decide to self medicate with alcohol or drugs to numb this pain and have a temporary escape from the psychological and emotional problems that accompany having this handicap in daily life.
