A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As an alternative to sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside in a group home might be taking part in treatment services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a viable short-term option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
