Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This is helpful for many who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment choice.
