TRICARE is health insurance that's provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would assume, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous treatment services to cope with alcohol and drug dependence including detox services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. People who have TRICARE will of course need to have a prior authorization before partaking in any type of rehabilitation service, which can be organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center could be the favored rehabilitation choice, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits concerning how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very beneficial, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
