Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days per week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab choice.
