Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab choice.
