Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or several days per week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment option.
