Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days each week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab choice.
