Criminal justice client rehabs can be considered being a far better option than prison time or significant fines for many who have been convicted of any type of drug or alcohol related crime. For instance, a person who has been found guilty of driving drunk of alcohol or drugs may qualify for rehabilitation services for their problem as opposed to serving time in jail. The judge might order that the individual receive rehabilitation, either alone or in addition to other consequences. First-time offenders specifically will often be given the ability to choose a criminal justice client rehab as an alternative to other sentencing, and it is well-advised they make the most of it if it is an option. The concept behind criminal justice client rehabs is that it is far more effective and efficient to invest effort and time into rehabilitation than punishment. Much research has been completed to see how effective this process is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following rehab. All indicators appear to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab have better probability of remaining out of the system following rehab.
