A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending those who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home may be involved in treatment services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live independently outside of the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a practical short-term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together.
