Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small number of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
