Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab alternative.
