Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or several days per week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab alternative.
