A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and also have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home could be taking part in treatment services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently away from the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a feasible short term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
