Offering gender-specific rehab services has proven very helpful in situations where conventional rehabilitation facilities have not meet expectations, including dealing with situations within a women's life which are unique and traumatic. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other significant issues which are specific to women. Studies show that women can also get involved in abusing drugs more readily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness as a consequence of addiction problems than males because of this. Because of duties in the home, women also tend to postpone searching for and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. That said, treatment services for women are designed so that a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed facilities, drug rehabilitation facilities which offer treatment services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a starting point. Following this step, counselors help women focus on both standard and gender specific problems which may have induced their drug or alcohol use. Women also enjoy the positive support from other female peers, and a few centers which provide rehab services to women also provide client beds for her kids.
