Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small number of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
