Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis each day or several days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
