Within a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab professionals will help individuals through a thorough rehabilitation plan all geared towards restoring and replenishing mental, physical and emotional health while addressing alcohol and drug abuse problems. Providing a safe and secure setting is key to ensure dual diagnosis clients can feel comfortable and remain free from distraction from things that may compromise their program and development. Rehabilitation counselors will work to spot environmental issues in the client's life such as negative relationships or other things that have to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally healthy and sober t whenever they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral treatment which helps them develop more efficient coping methods so they are better able to deal with life situations more effectively once they depart dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to drugs and alcohol as an inferior option.
