Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment choice.
