Medicaid is a type of health insurance available for individuals who are in certain income brackets which qualifies them to obtain this government provided insurance coverage. Whether or not someone is qualified for Medicaid doesn't only depend on their earnings however, and individuals shouldn't assume they don't qualify because they make a reasonable income. For example, individuals who have many dependents may be eligible for Medicaid regardless of whether they make what would be described as a sensible income. Medicaid may also cover the expenses of rehabilitation, when someone has been abusing alcohol or drugs and requires treatment. There are lots of alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which accept Medicaid, but different states have different rules for what types of rehab are covered. Some states only include outpatient rehabilitation services for example while other states cover far more intensive rehabilitation say for example a residential stay in long-term drug rehabilitation center. If someone is involved with drug use and needs help, they are able to use their Medicaid insurance coverage to obtain this treatment. If they don't have Medicaid and in addition don't have enough cash or any other form of medical insurance to pay for treatment, they can see if they are eligible for a Medicaid and then sign up for a drug rehab center that is approved in their state.
