Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time daily or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab choice.
