LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This can be an extremely tough or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug use to numb this pain. Someone that is LGBT might not feel comfortable in a traditional rehab program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and treatment counselors issues which need to be handled so that they can get better. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in the event that their family disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and it is a good example of a thing that can be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and produce confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life free of drugs and alcohol.
