Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or a few days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities that provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab choice.
