TRICARE is health care insurance that is offered to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is much more common than one would think, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehab services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, in addition to rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. People with TRICARE will naturally need to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehabilitation service, that may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the preferred treatment option, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very useful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are expert rehab counselors ready to help today.
