A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. Residents in the group home may be involved in treatment services during residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently not in the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire employment.
