Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time every day or a few days each week. This is helpful for those who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
