Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous treatment alternative.
