Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time each day or a few days each week. This is helpful for many who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
