Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis each day or a few days a week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab choice.
