Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment choice.
