A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which offers continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside within a group home could possibly be taking part in rehabilitation services while in residence, or might be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some time live on their own not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a practical short term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
