Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide treatment to deal with both addiction and mental health issues simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is a very common situation for folks involved in substance abuse, as those that have mental health issues frequently medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to experience some form of temporary respite from their disorder. Inside a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help people through a comprehensive rehabilitation plan all targeted at restoring and replenishing mental, physical and emotional health whilst addressing alcohol and drug abuse concerns. Offering a safe and secure setting is essential to ensure dual diagnosis clients can feel relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances which may compromise their treatment plan and advancement. Rehab counselors will continue to work to identify environmental issues in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things which need to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and sober t whenever they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehabilitation which helps them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are better able to deal with life situations better if they depart dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs as an inferior answer.
