A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and support within reach 24/7. Residents within a group home may be getting involved in treatment services during residence, or might be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at one point live on their own not in the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a feasible short term option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together.
