TRICARE is medical insurance that is offered to members of the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would think, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehab services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People with TRICARE will obviously be asked to have a prior authorization before taking part in any type of treatment service, which can be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the favored rehabilitation choice, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in this center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about just how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very helpful, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
