Medicaid is a type of health insurance available for those who are in certain income brackets which qualifies them to obtain this government provided insurance. Whether or not someone qualifies for Medicaid doesn't only determined by income however, and individuals shouldn't assume they don't qualify simply because they make a good income. For example, people who have a lot of dependents may qualify for Medicaid even if they make an amount be considered a sensible income. Medicaid may also cover the expense of treatment, when someone has been abusing drugs or alcohol and requires rehabilitation. There are several drug and alcohol treatment centers which accept Medicaid, but different states have different guidelines for what types of rehab are covered. Some states only include outpatient rehab services as an example while other states cover far more intensive rehabilitation say for example a residential stay in long-term drug rehabilitation program. If someone is involved with substance abuse and needs help, they could use their Medicaid health coverage to get this help. If they do not have Medicaid and in addition don't have enough cash or some other type of health insurance to cover treatment, they could find out if they are eligible for a Medicaid and then sign up for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center which is approved in their state.
