Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time daily or several days a week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities that provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
