Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or several days a week. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
