Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may trigger drug use, or risky sexual conduct because of drug abuse might have caused the individual to contract the illness. Individuals who have HIV/AIDS, either because of their drug abuse or as a pre-existing problem prior to their substance abuse issue, typically require rehab services tailor-made to fulfill their specific demands and challenges. Some of these problems are physical in nature, because of the fact that substance abusers with HIV/AIDS almost never look after themselves and take the appropriate medications they need to preserve their health. Because of this, they arrive to rehabilitation in very poor physical shape and this will have to be addressed as a priority whilst addressing other important issues. Apart from the obvious necessity to deliver medical services during rehab, those that have HIV/AIDS will also need to deal with more deeply rooted issues which brought about their alcohol or drug use. Frequently, people have situations in their lives that are strictly environmental which may have triggered them to turn to drugs or alcohol, including oppressive circumstances within their lives or negative relationships. These are the issues which rehabilitation counselors will give attention to as part of HIV/AIDS rehab services.
