Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation alternative.
