A group home for someone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home may help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents within a group home could be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent answer, yet it's a viable short-term option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
