LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially depraved. This is sometimes a quite challenging and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate this pain. Somebody that is LGBT might not exactly feel safe in a traditional rehabilitation center amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT rehab provides an environment which is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which have to be resolved in order to get well. Treatment counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their family members, in the event their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, which is an example of an issue that can be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a healthy life clear of drugs and alcohol.
