TRICARE is health care insurance which is provided to individuals in the military of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehabilitation services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. People with TRICARE will of course need to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any type of rehabilitation service, which may be organized using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility could be the preferred rehabilitation choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits as to how much time a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which may be very helpful, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors ready to assist you today.
