A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. Residents in the group home could be taking part in treatment services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live independently not in the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, yet it's a practical temporary option for many who want to get their lives back together again.
