Criminal justice client rehabs are available like a considerably better option than time in jail or heavy fines for those who have already been convicted of any sort of drug or alcohol related crime. For example, anyone who has been found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be eligible to obtain rehab services for his or her problem instead of serving time in jail. The judge may even order the individual receive rehabilitation, either alone or together with other sentencing. First-time offenders in particular tend to be given the ability to go with a criminal justice client rehab instead of other sentencing, and it is highly recommended they take advantage of it if it's an alternative. The concept behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is much more efficient and effective to invest effort and time into treatment than punishment. Much research has been done to find out how effective this strategy is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following treatment. All indicators appear to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients that do experience rehab have better chance of remaining out of the system after rehabilitation.
