TRICARE is medical insurance that's provided to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would think, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehabilitation services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will of course need to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any type of treatment service, that may be organized using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility is the preferred treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits concerning the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very beneficial, as it could help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
