Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be worthwhile in situations where traditional rehabilitation settings have fallen short, including coping with situations within a women's life which are unique and painful. Such issues may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or other really serious issues that are particular to women. Studies show that women may also get embroiled in drug abuse more easily than men, and are more predisposed to sickness because of drug abuse problems than males as a result. Due to duties in their home, women also tend to postpone searching for and undergoing treatment, a situation which can lead to disaster. With this in mind, treatment services for women are designed to ensure a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed centers, drug rehabilitation programs that offer rehab solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women target both basic and gender specific concerns who have brought about their drug abuse.
