Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which deliver treatment to deal with both mental health and addiction issues simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common circumstance for people involved in substance abuse, as those that have mental health issues frequently self medicate with drugs and alcohol to experience some form of short-term relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehabilitation professionals will help men and women using a thorough treatment plan all aimed at restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health while also addressing alcohol and drug abuse concerns. Offering a safe setting is key so that dual diagnosis clients can be comfortable and remain undistracted from circumstances which may cut across their program and progress. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehabilitation which will help them develop far better coping mechanisms so they are better able to handle life circumstances well when they depart dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to alcohol and drugs as a possible solution.
