Offering gender-specific treatment services has shown to be beneficial in situations where conventional rehab facilities have not meet expectations, including coping with situations inside a women's life that are unique and distressing. Such concerns may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or other really serious issues which are particular to women. Research has revealed that women also can get embroiled in drug use more readily than men, and therefore are more predisposed to sickness due to dependency issues than males as a result. Because of duties in the home, women also tend to put off trying to find and undergoing treatment, a situation which can lead to disaster. That said, treatment services for women are created to ensure a women's needs are the focus and priority. Similar to coed programs, drug treatment centers which provide treatment solutions to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women focus on both basic and gender-specific concerns which may have prompted their substance abuse. Women also enjoy the beneficial support from other female peers, plus some facilities that offer rehab services to women provide client beds for her children.
