Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers which offer rehab over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab option.
