Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities that provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab choice.
